Jim Nellen is a lawyer in private practice. Previously, he was counsel to Smithfield Foods Inc., general counsel to Smithfield Beef Group and president of Smithfield’s Delaware Holding Companies. Before then, he was a partner with the Milwaukee law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich, president of SBC Wisconsin (now AT&T Wisconsin) and vice president and general counsel of Fort Howard Corp.
Nellen graduated from Dartmouth College and received his law degree from the University of Virginia. Between college and law school, he worked for the U.S. Department of Defense, International Security Affairs.
He is a member of the Board of the Wisconsin United for Health Foundation, former chairman of the Wisconsin Foundation of Independent Colleges, past president of Competitive Wisconsin and a former director of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
