By the numbers
After reaching an all-time high of 14.85%, the share of people who work from home has come down to just over 12% in 2023, still about three times the percentage of remote workers in 2015.

An overwhelming number of Wisconsinites still drive themselves in their own car to work, data from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics show.
Approximately 8% of those surveyed opt to share a ride.

The share of people driving themselves to work has increased slightly since 2021 to 74.9%, but it has not recovered to its pre-pandemic level: Before 2020, the percentage hovered around 81%.
At around 2.6%, fewer people are walking to work than in the mid-2010s, when the fraction was over 3% but decreasing.
Just over 1% of commuters used public transit, but that was also significantly reduced from its pre-pandemic level of 1.5% or more. About 0.5% rode a bicycle and another 1% used some other form of transportation, such as taxis, motorcycles, or something else.
