At the start of the pandemic in 2020, Wishkub Kinepoway faced two family crises with some crying, prayer and a lot of determination. A member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and a Shawano County transplant to Milwaukee, Kinepoway knew she needed to make a change for her children. She also knew that change wouldn’t come without school choice.
Kinepoway has two daughters attending St. Marcus Lutheran School in Milwaukee and a son attending Martin Luther High School in Greendale. The quality of education, the availability of services, the dedication of the teachers and the uplifting culture have made her family feel like they are part of a close-knit community.
“And I think that that has brought me closer to God,” she says. “So when I say that I believe God brought St. Marcus to us, that He knew that we needed it, that’s what I mean.”
